At Google, I'm on the Global Communications & Public Affairs team. I spend most of my time working on an internal newsletter that goes to every Google employee each day. I do original reporting about Google and its people and write and edit articles daily.
Most of that content is for employees only, but you can see an example of one of my articles that was published externally here.
Before this role, I was on the Local Guides team. Google Local Guides are a community of more than 100M people who share photos, reviews, and knowledge on Google Maps. Their contributions help the millions of people who use Maps decide where to go and what to do.
The Local Guides team at Google creates content to engage the community and encourage them to contribute high quality content. As a content editor on the team, I planned, created, edited, and scheduled content across the global program.
Here’s a sample of things I worked on:
I was the managing editor of Connect, a blog and community forum created by Google for Local Guides. I developed the content strategy, managed the editorial calendar, and edited each post written by a Googler. I interviewed Googlers with exciting jobs, featured Local Guides making an impact, and crafted educational content to help improve the quality of contributions. In my first six months, I increased YOY page views by 33%.
Here are a few posts I wrote for Connect.

It was my job to craft emails people would actually want to open. I wrote and edited copy for a variety of different types, including:
Monthly Progress Report
This email shows Local Guides the impact they had on Google Maps the month before. It recognizes their contributions and motivates them to continue sharing. It’s one of our top performing communications each month.
From time to time, Local Guides are rewarded for their quality contributions with perks. For these emails, I worked with our partnership team and the client to craft emails that accurately explain the perk and how to redeem it.
Who doesn’t love an invite? We send these to Local Guides to attend events hosted by Google—and there’s always free food involved.
Connect Live is an annual event organized by Google for top contributors on Maps. Local Guides from around the world apply to attend and those selected are invited to the all-expenses-paid trip in California.
In 2018, we launched a series of smaller, pop-up events in cities around the world.
I worked on all of the content for both the flagship and pop-up events. That includes everything from website copy, to event scripts, to merch. I also created promotional emails, articles, social posts, and videos.
